A MINUSMA convoy led by the Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) is heading to the internally displaced people's (IDP) site of Tin-Fadimata located in the dunes of Ménaka.

Advance units of a new UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) began moving into Southern Lebanon on 22 March 1978. The purpose of the Force, spelled out in a Security Council Resolution of 19 March (Resolution 425) is to confirm the withdrawal of Israeli forces, restore international peace and security, and assist the Government of Lebanon in ensuring the return of its effective authority in the area.

The people displaced by the war in Southern Sudan are being helped by Operation Lifeline Sudan, a consortium of the World Food Programme (WFP), UNICEF and 35 non-governmental organizations. The nine year relief effort has saved thousands of lives and the World Food Programme says it will need 54 million to provide emergency aid until April 1999.

During one such raid, Commandos of the 41st Royal British Marines swarm ashore from amtracks 8 miles south of Songjin, North Korea, where they destroyed a stretch of railroad track breaking an important enemy supply line.
