Headline Handwoven Ecuadorean Rugs in Use at U.N.Headquarters
Caption Description Three large handwoven rugs were formally presented to the United Nations on 13 September 1955 as a gift from the women of the Presbyterian Church in the United States. Designed by Olga Anhalzer Fisch, Hungarian-born refugee artist, the rugs are each 29 by 25 feet and were woven under her supervision in Ecuador by 12 Indian girls who worked 12 hours daily for six months to complete them.
