In anticipation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit from 25 - 27 of September, and in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, a 10-minute film introducing the Sustainable Development Goals is being projected onto the north façade of the Secretariat building and the west façade of the General Assembly building at the UN Headquarters. This projection vividly illustrates each of the 17 Goals, aiming to increase awareness about the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Olivia performs a spoken word poem during the event on the International Day of the Girl 2023 on the theme “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being”.

The event aims to unite adolescent girls with advocates for their rights, including UN leaders, NGOs, businesses, and governments. The event showcases a world where girls actively influence government policies, business practices, and research priorities. This vision needs global commitment and specific funding to become the standard.
The General Assembly held a joint debate on the two subjects, “New Partnership for Africa’s Development: progress in implementation and international support”; and “2001-2010: Decade to Roll Back Malaria in Developing Countries, Particularly in Africa”. Headline ONUB Supports Fishing Project in Nyanza-Lac, Burundi
Caption Description As part of the peace building process in Burundi, the United Nations Operation in Burundi (ONUB) launched a fishing project intended to empower ex-combatants in Nyanza-Lac, a small fishing town in the southern province of Makamba.

The project was initiated by ONUB and developed in association with the local representation of Yamaha Company that donated an outboard (motor) to an ex-combatant who started a fishing business after his demobilization, and has since recruited some 15 other fishermen to work under his supervision.
