The United Nations and its Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, today received the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Norway, on the 100th anniversary of the prestigious award.

Secretary-General Kofi Annan today departs from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he co-chaired a donor pledging conference for the African Union forces on the ground in Darfur, to go to Sudan. He is scheduled to meet with Sudan's leadership and visit to the south as well as the western Darfur region.
