Tibetan Refugees in Nepal
Caption Description
It is estimated that Nepal has between ten and twenty thousand Tibetan refugees living within its borders. Soon after the first wave of arrivals, the Nepalese Government assisted by the International Committee of the Red Cross set up relief programmes to help the refugees. Milk and food distribution, medical supplies, housing, educational facilities and employment are included in the relief programme.
A Tibetan woman distributes milk to children up to the age of 12 who get a half litre of milk, vitamins and cod liver oil daily. [July, 1972]
