SEVENTH SESSION OF THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Caption Description
Partial view of a meeting of the General Assembly's Political Committee, on 20 November 1952. This picture shows Anthony EDEN (left at the front table), Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, addressing the Committee. Welcoming the proposals made by India as a ""timely and constructive attempt"" to resolve the prolonged deadlock over the repatriation of Korean war prisoners, the British Foreign Secretary suggested to the Committee that the plan might be amplified in two ways: First, that the proposed ""umpire"" be a fifth full member of the suggested four-man Repatriation Commission and its Chairman; and, second, that some agency be designated for the ultimate disposition of the prisoners who were not repatriated.
