The General Assembly today elected Argentina, Italy and Tunisia on the first ballot to replace Colombia, Iraq and Sweden on the Security Council when their terms expire at the end of this year.
At the conclusion of the voting, the Representatives of the new members are congratulated by Assembly President, Dr. Charles Malik (r.). They are (l. to r.) : Dr. Carlos Alberto Florit, Minister of External Relations of Argentina; Senator Attilio Piccioni (Italy) and Ambassador Leonardo Vitetti, Permanent Representative of Italy to the UN; and Ambassador Mongi Slim, Permanent Representative of Tunisia to the United Nations.
