A participant of a townhall meeting - held as part of the sixty-third session of the Commission on the Status of Women - greets a UN staff member prior to the beginning of the townhall.
The townhall, moderated by Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), served as an opportunity for civil society representatives to engage with Secretary-General António Guterres and his senior leadership on topics pertaining to gender equality and the work of the UN.
Maryam Bular Hasan, Poet, shares a poem at the Summit of the Future Action Day Two session titled “Dismantling patriarchal power structures”. Action Day 2, which coincides with the International Day of Peace, focuses on three priority themes: A Digital Future for All; A Peaceful Future for All; and A Sustainable Future for All.

The Summit offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity for change. It will pave the way to a better tomorrow, one that we can only shape together. In support of this vision and these objectives, the Secretary-General of the United Nations convened the Summit of the Future Action Days on 20 and 21 September 2024 to generate additional opportunities for the engagement of all actors.
