Headline 11th Session of the U.N. General Assembly
Caption Description The General Assembly this morning resumed its debate of the Hungarian situation.
At the rostrum, at the beginning of the meeting, is Mr. Endre SIK, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Hungary, reading a declaration received yesterday from the Government of Hungary. The declaration said that reports of mass arrests and deportations to the Soviet Union were ""false and provocative rumors"" being circulated in order to create distrust in the Hungarian Government, to ""disturb tranquility"" and ""to undermine relations between the Hungarian people and Soviet Army units."" Accordingly, said Mr. Sik, ""there is no question for the General Assembly to discuss.""
