The Security Council Chamber at U.N. Headquarters
Caption Description
The Security Council chamber at United Nations permanent Headquarters in New York was designed by a Norwegian architect, Mr. Arnstein Arneberg, and the government of Norway contributed a fund of 109.000 Norwegian crowns (approximately US$15.000). Besides the representatives, their advisers and the conference staff, this chamber accommodates 400 members of the public and 120 press correspondents; it is about 50 meters long, 25 meters wide and 3 meters high - most of the furniture, the carpet, marble panelling, the inlaid doors, the specially made tapestry on the walls were sent from Norway. This picture shows the room, as seen from behind the President's chair, with the press and public areas in the background. [Exact date unknown]
