Speakers in General Assembly Reaffirm Support for Middle East Road Map
Caption Description
Reaffirming the unanimous international commitment to the Road Map for Middle East peace as the basis for the resolution of the question of Palestine, speakers in the General Assembly this afternoon deplored the lack of progress in its implementation and emphasized the need for the United Nations to remain seized of the situation. The Road Map, presented by the Quartet - the United States, Russian Federation, European Union and the United Nations - calls on both sides to take a series of reciprocal steps leading to the establishment of two States - Israel and Palestine -living side by side in peace and security.
Victor Camilleri (Malta), Rapporteur of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, introduces the report of the Committee.
