Headline At Request of Non-Aligned Countries, Security Council Hears Views of Larger UN Membership on Disarmament of Iraq
Caption Description Seeking to help shape the Security Council's response to unfolding events surrounding the disarmament of Iraq, including last Friday's briefings by the United Nations weapons inspectors and anticipated action by the Council this week, 28 speakers today debated what many called a rush to war. At the request made last week by the Non-Aligned Movement of countries, the Council agreed to invite United Nations Member States, who are not members of the Council, to participate in an open debate.

Mohammed Aldouri, Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations, addresses the Council.
