The Trusteeship Council Chamber
Caption Description
This chamber was designed by Mr. Finn Juhl, a Danish architect, and the Government of Denmark contributed a fund of approximately $20,000 towards its construction. Beside the delegates, their alternates and the conference staff, this chamber accommodates 400 visitors and 120 press correspondents; it is about 50 meters long, 25 meters wide and 9 meters high. Most of the furniture and woods, the carpets, curtains and lighting fixtures were sent from Denmark. Note left of the window, the newly installed statue. Carved out of teak wood by Mr. Henrik Starcke, a Danish sculptor, it symbolizes Mankind and Hope, and completes the decoration of the chamber.
