Caption Description
The area around Bandiagara, in southern Mali, traditionally being inhabited by the industrious tribe the Dogons. For several centuries, the Dogons have using indigenous techniques of irrigation to grow vegetables and millet at the foot of the mountains where they build their villages. Because of the drought many are now forced to abandon these lands swelling the numbers of the immigrants to the capital. Those who stay have set up new villages as they scrambled down the mountains in search for food and water.
