Headline
Fisheries Development in Malawi
Caption Description
In an effort to create a permanent professional fishing community on the banks of Lakes Malawi and Chilwa, the government of Malawi is establishing a co-operative society of local fishermen and fish traders. Advisers from both the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are co-operating in this project, which also envisions the improvement of facilities for the processing and distribution of fish in order to insure a regular source of income and a higher standard of living for all those individuals involved in the fishing industry.
