Headline UN Conference on International Commercial Arbitration
Caption Description With the rapid expansion of toad trade the international business community has been faced with increasing practical difficulties which go beyond national frontiers. To solve some of these problems, representatives and experts from some 45 countries are meeting at UN Headquarters to conclude a convention which will facilitate the enforcement of arbitral awards in settling international commercial disputes. The Conference will also study practical measures for increasing the effectiveness of arbitration in settling international private law disputes.
Mr. C.W.A. Schurman (Netherlands), President of the Conference, is seen here shortly before the meeting opened today, as he exchanged views with Mr. Albert Herment, representative of Belgium.
