A MINUSMA convoy led by the Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) is heading to the internally displaced people's (IDP) site of Tin-Fadimata located in the dunes of Ménaka.

Advance units of a new UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) began moving into Southern Lebanon on 22 March 1978. The purpose of the Force, spelled out in a Security Council Resolution of 19 March (Resolution 425) is to confirm the withdrawal of Israeli forces, restore international peace and security, and assist the Government of Lebanon in ensuring the return of its effective authority in the area. 

Members of the French contingent deployed in the Tyre area hold back a group of demonstrators. Members of a UN Film team record the scene. France has provided a battalion composed of 728 men. They man seven checkpoints in the vicinity of Tyre and are patrolling in the area.

Thanks to a donation from the Government of Finland, over 150,000 children in Gaza are participating in Summer Fun Weeks 2013, a two-week summer programme organised by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The programme features activities designed to encourage creativity and a psychosocial well-being like football, kite flying, drawing, and traditional games.

The UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) is continuing to work with national and international agencies to clear Port-au-Prince of the piles of debris left over from the earthquake that struck the city on 12 January, 2010.
Beginning their work on this year’s UN Day (24 October), Ghanaian engineers with the UN mission in Mali (MINUSMA) renovated a school in Taliko, a marginalized neighbourhood of Bamako. The school had hosted several displaced families after deadly flash floods hit the Malian capital this summer.

Headline UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus 
Caption Description In its resolution of 4 March 1964, the UN Security Council recommended the creation of a UN Peace-Keeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) to prevent recurrence of hostilities and maintain law and order, and the appointment of a UN mediator to work toward a peaceful settlement of the Cyprus dispute. UNFICYP is composed of military contingents placed at its disposal by Canada, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Sweden and the UK; civilian police provided by Australia, Austria, Denmark, New Zealand and Sweden; and an Austrian medical unit.
