Caption Description A 500-foot merchant cargo ship with 33 young Chinese cadets and a marine instructor supplied by the United Nations, arrived from Taipei on 16 October, and berthed in Pier 32 on the Hudson River in New York.
During inspection of the cadets and their training vessel Hai Hsin in New York Harbour, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th from the left respectively, Captain Manuel Gallego Cortes (Spain), Master Mariner and Project Manager; Dr. P.Y. Tan, Vice-Chairman, China Merchant Steam Navigation Co., (operating company of Hai Hsin); and Dr. Victor Hoo, Commissioner for Technical Co-operation, Economic and Social Affairs Department of United Nations.
