Recommended by a United Nations survey mission in January 1958, a Canadian team is conducting a survey of the Mekong River and some of its tributaries, as part of Canada's contribution to the Lower Mekong River Basin project. This project is a multi-purpose programme for the development of irrigation facilities, flood control, hydroelectric power, and navigation undertaken by Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam with the help of several United Nations agencies.
This amphibian plane is used by the Canadian Survey team to take members to the dam and other sites along the Mekong. June 1960.
