Headline
Bolivian Indian Migration Programme
Caption Description
Under the leadership of the International Labour Organization, five United Nations agencies (ILO, UNTAA, UNESCO, PAO, WHO) are participating in a long-range plan of migration and colonization which will aid local populations and better integrate them into the social and economic growth of the country.
Experts working with the Government of Bolivia are already preparing the Indians in some areas for the change which will eventually mean the movement of complete families from arid zones to the more fertile low-lands of Bolivia.
Jeanne Sylvain from Haiti, Chief Social worker at Cotoca, an International Labour Organization (ILO) and Bolivian Government project in the sub-tropical region near Santa Cruz.
