Headline Sculpture Symbolizes Sprits of UN Disarmament Session
Caption Description The 12 by 20 foot aluminum STOP sign standing in Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza with a hand facing the United Nations reflects its creator's belief that World War III can and must be stopped.  Sculptor William King's works have appeared in the private collections of the Rockefeller family, John Hay Whitney, Joseph H. Hischhorn, and many universities and museum.  This one was created for display during the UN Second Special Session on Disarmament (June 7 - July 9, 1982) and will remain at its present location from mid-May through the end of this August as part of an educational effort on the dangerous of nuclear war.  The project is sponsored by the Was Resisters League, a 59-year-old pacifist organization, in co-operation with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.
