Security Council President Denis Dangue Rewaka (Gabon) presides over a meeting at which the Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1242 (1999), extending the Iraq ""oil-for-food"" programme for 180 Days, from 25 May. Acting under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, the Council decided to permit Iraq to produce up to $5.26 billion worth of petroleum and petroleum products during that period for the purchase of humanitarian supplies.
