Headline
Trust Territory of Tanganyika: Communications
Caption Description
Tanganyika, under British administration, is the largest and most populous of the 11 Trust Territories, and is situated south of the Equator, between the Great Lakes of Central Africa and the Indian Ocean. Major improvements in communications in the territory are being undertaken to enable the country's natural resources to find new markets at home and abroad. These include all-weather roads, capital works on the railways, harbor facilities to accommodate large, ocean-going ships and a new airport at Dar es Salaam, the capital and largest town of the territory.
An aerial view of the new airport at Dar es Salaam. 1954.
