The United Nations Radio began broadcasting in Japanese with the opening of the 29th Session of the General Assembly on 17 September 1974.
Mr. Takashi Endo, Chief of the Asian Section with the UN Radio, who is in-charge of the Japanese Language broadcast, is seen at his desk at UN Headquarters. He is surrounded by some of the thousands of letters and tapes that have poured into Headquarters in an enthusiastic response to the new service.
