The General Assembly later adopted a resolution that "Determines that the State of Palestine is qualified for membership in the United Nations in accordance with Article 4 of the Charter of the United Nations and should therefore be admitted to membership in the United Nations". Headline Mine-Detecting Dogs Join Swedish UNEF Contingent in Gaza
Caption Description Four dogs especially trained for detecting mines arrived in Gaza recently from Sweden to help Swedish soldiers of the United Nations Emergency Force prevent mine accidents in areas where scattered un-located old mines still remain hidden. The Alsatian-type dogs have come from the Swedish Amy dog school in northern Sweden where dogs have been trained in detecting mines since World War II. The mines are detected by the dog's acute sense of smell. He runs along with nose to ground, and when ever he detects a mine, he scrapes the ground with a forepaw.
Sgt. Ebbe Bring of Langared, Sweden, is leading the dog in this picture.
