Security Council Meets on Kashmir Question
Caption Description
This morning in the Security Council, Pakistan urged the immediate introduction of a United Nations Force into the Kashmir area, in order to protect the state and its internal security. Making the demand, the Pakistani Foreign Minister, Mr. Firoz Khan Noon, also asked that all the other forces - Indian, Pakistani and local - be disbanded, and that ""an early and firm date be fixed"" for the induction of a U.N. plebiscite administrator, under whose auspices an impartial plebiscite would be conducted, as previously advocated by the Council.
This picture shows Mr. V.K. Krishna Menon (center), representative of India, having an informal discussion with the members of his delegation before the opening of the meeting.
