Headline Council Members Brief Media on Vote on ICC Cases of Kenyan Leaders
Caption Description A resolution before the Security Council on the deferral of the International Criminal Court (ICC) trials of Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto failed to pass when it was put to the vote. Seven of the Council’s 15 members voted in favour of the draft resolution and eight abstained. Gert Rosenthal, Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the UN, speaks to journalists following the Council meeting. Also briefing with him were Mark Lyall Grant (left), Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom; Gary Francis Quinlan (right), Permanent Representative of Australia; and Gérard Araud, Permanent Representative of France.
