UN Prepares for Seventy-second General Debate of General Assembly
Caption Description
Preparations are underway at UN headquarters for the general debate of the seventy-second session of the General Assembly, scheduled for 19-25 September.
Workers clean the 26-foot-high marble pedestal of the equestrian statue symbolizing Peace, presented to the UN by the Government of Yugoslavia on 15 December 1954. The 16-foot-high bronze statue depicts a woman on horseback, holding an olive branch in her outstretched left hand and a symbol of the world in her right hand. The statue, the work of Antun Augustincic, is located on the North Lawn of the UN headquarters campus in New York.
