Students Plant Trees to Mark World Environment Day
Caption Description
To commemorate World Environment Day hundreds of students took part in a day of activities including the planting of several hundred trees in the Pine Forest, one of Haiti's last forests. Located nearly four hours drive from Port-au-Prince, the once great forest has been depleted to make room for farm land. The trees are also used as a source of income and to make charcoal for fuel.
A Haitian youth participates in the tree planting.
