UN Secretary-General Visits UNRWA Camps
Caption Description
Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld today visited two Palestine Arab refugee camps near Beirut. He first saw Dekwaneh Camp, where he inspected UNRWA installations and services provided for 2,000 refugees living in tents and mud huts; from there he went to Dbaye, where the Ate Agency has recently completed the construction of brick shelters for 1,800 refugees who moved to their new camp ten days ago.
A refugee leader is seen here saying goodbye to Mr. Hammarskjöld at the end of his visit at Dekwaneh Camp. With them is Mr. George Safouri, UNKRA area officer for the Beirut district.
