Refugee Camp at Hellbrunn
Caption Description
Eighty refugees who have been living in Camp Hellbrunn in Austria since the end of World War II seem condemned to remain there unless a private campaign or group raises the money to finance their re-settlement. Most of this group have been screened as many as 5 or 6 times by emigration selection missions, and have been rejected for reasons of health or age. Some are able-bodied and can work if they had a chance to move into low-rent apartments. But more than half of the eighty are handicapped and need old-age homes or institutions which could give the life-long care they need.
A refugee, barred from emigration because of TB, shows the X-ray plate to Mrs. Marthe Torkar. He has a job, but no present prospect of a home outside the camp. [No exact date]
