United Nations Provides Dredge for Sava River Project in Yugoslavia
Caption Description
A $130,000 dredge, custom-built and tested in Rotterdam, fitted with a dredge pump which has an engine designed in the United States and manufactured in the United Kingdom, is being used in the $1.5 million United Nations-aided project aimed at the regulation and management of the Sava River in Yugoslavia. The dredge shifts 150 cubic metres per hour of sand and gravel from the bottom of the Sava River. The sediment, once moved, is transported through 100 metres of pipeline supported on pontoons which move with the dredge.
A view of the dredge at anchorage on the banks of the Sava River in Precko in the outskirts of Zagreb.
