Headline Timorese Police Resumes Responsibility in Manatuto
Caption Description Pictured is a performer at a ceremony to celebrate the resumption of the Polícia Nacional de Timor-Leste's (PNTL) policing responsibilities in Manatuto, a city on the country's northern coast. Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Prime Minister of Timor-Leste and Atul Khare, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for East Timor, presided over the ceremony. Manatuto is the third district, after Lautem and Oecussi, in which the PNTL has resumed its duties. UN Police will stay on in Timor-Leste in order to support, provide advice to and monitor the PNTL.
