Panama Signs Convention to Protect Producers of Phonograms
Caption Description
Panama today signed the Convention for the Protection of Producers of Phonograms against Unauthorized Duplication of Phonograms, adopted at Geneva on 29 October 1971. The Convention provides that each contracting State shall adopt laws to protect those who make phonograms (sound recordings) of performances or other sounds against the duplication of those recordings without the consent of the original producer. The Convention was adopted by a conference organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
