Headline
Chinju Rebuilding on First Anniversary of Korean Aggression
Caption Description
On 24 September 1950, when the United Nations Forces recaptured Chinju, 60 percent of the city and its suburbs were destroyed, some 60,000 of its residents were homeless. Today, on the first anniversary of the aggression in Korea, Chinju is rebuilding itself rapidly and, once again, its people look ahead to better times.
Here, refugees from Seoul get rice ration tickets at the temporary city office. Much of the rice comes from United Nations countries.
