UNCURK Group Visits Orphanage on Cheju Island
Caption Description
Nearly a thousand orphans evacuated from Seoul before it was given up to the forces attacking the Republic of Korea are now sheltered on Cheju Island. This orphanage was in January visited by some members of UNCURK (UN Commission for the Unification and Rehabilitation of Korea).
The children who are sick are in hospital wards, suffering mostly from the consequences of malnutrition, but some are ill with broncial pneumonia. Those who have infectious diseases are isolated.
