Headline Human Rights Day Concert
Caption Description To commemorate Human Rights Day this year, on the 16th anniversary of the adoption by the General Assembly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, an international concert was held in the Assembly Hall at UN Headquarters. The president of the 19th session of the General Assembly, Alex Quaison-Sackey of Ghana, delivered a commemorative message. The Preamble to the Human Rights Delegation was narrated by Sir John Gielgud, British actor-director. The artists who performed were: Rileen Farrell, American dramatic soprano; Jaime Laredo, Bolivian violinist; a group of Jamaican singers, the "Frats Quintet", (Winston H. White, Sidney H. Clarke, Granville A. Lindo, Wilfred E. Warner and R. Henry Richards); and Tadeusz Zmudzinski, Polish Pianist. The concert also featured "Music and Dances of India", dancers Bali Ram, Neena Gulati, Maya Kulkarni, Bihari Sharme, and Thambal Yaima and instrumentalist S. Ramanathan.

Discussing the programme are Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy and Ambassador Frank Aiken, of Ireland. At right is Ambassador Adlai E. Stevenson, of the United States.
