Political Committee Opens Debate on Korean Conference Arrangements
Caption Description
Divergent views on the membership and the agenda of the forthcoming
political conference on a Korean settlement became immediately evident today as the General Assembly's Political Committee began its debate on arrangements for the conference.
Sir Percy Spender (lower left) of Australia addresses the Committee on the question of Soviet participation - Australia and New Zealand sponsored a proposal which recommend ""that the USSR participate in the Korean political conference provided the other side desires it"". Seen on Sir Percy's left are: M.M. Rodolfo Munoz of Argentina; Mohammed Kabir Ludin of Afghanistan; Leo Mates of Yugoslavia, all Permanent Representatives to the U.N.; and H.R.H. Prince Saif Al Islam Abdullah, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Yemen.
