On 5 August 1952, citizens of the Republic of Korea went to the polls to elect a President and Vice President. In Pusan, a huge arch (shown here) was erected by Mr. Lee Bum Suk, a candidate for the Vice Presidency. This arch, about 24 feet high, carried twelve-foot portraits of the candidate on both sides. Mr. Bum Suk was not elected.
