Headline Commemoration of 81st Anniversary of Kristallnacht at Museum of Jewish Heritage
Caption Description Secretary-General António Guterres (centre) and Danny Danon (second from right), Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations, speaks with George Klein (right), Vice-Chairman of the Museum of Jewish Heritage, at the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of Kristallnacht at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in New York City.
On Kristallnacht (November 9-10, 1938), Nazi leaders unleashed a wave of antisemitic violence across Germany that served as a critical prelude to the Holocaust. Before the night had concluded, at least 91 Jews had been murdered, 7,500 Jewish-owned businesses had been attacked and looted, and 30,000 Jewish men had been arrested for transfer to concentration camps.
