Security Council Resumes Namibia Debate
Caption Description
The Security Council met this afternoon at the request of the African Group “to consider the question of Namibia in the light of the refusal of South Africa to implement Security Council resolutions on Namibia”. Before the debate began the Council agreed without objection to hear the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO) and rejected a request from France, the United Kingdom and the United States to hear Peter Kalangula and “others” by a vote of 6 for, 9 against, and no abstentions.
President of the Security Council Noel Dorr (Ireland) calling the meeting to order.
