Headline Street Children in Brazil
Caption Description In Brazil, there are more than ten million abandoned children. They are mostly between seven and seventeen years old but some are younger. They live on the street in search of money to support themselves, and also to help their families. Most of these children have homes and families but since the parents are unable or unwilling to meet their basic needs, these children must leave home to make money. Spending most of their time in the street, these youngsters have little of no access to basic services such as health care, nutrition and education. Without the strengths and the skills required to advance themselves, most are condemned to lifelong poverty and social marginalization.
