Headline Memorial to Ralph Bunche Placed Opposite UN Secretariat
Caption Description Peace Form One, a 50 foot steel obelisk, was dedicated this morning to the memory of Ralph Bunche, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and winner of the 1950 Nobel Peace Prize. The sculpture by the American, Daniel La Rue Johnson, stands in a park recently named for Dr. Bunche opposite the UN Secretariat building. Dr. Bunche, who won the Nobel Peace Prize for his role as United Nations Mediator for Palestine in the 1949 Middle East peace settlement, was the first black man to receive that award.
A general view of the dedication ceremony today.
