Headline United Nations Headquarters
Caption Description An unusual feature of the plenary hall of the General Assembly building, at UN Headquarters, is the placing of circular shields, some three feet in diameter, on the wall immediately to the rear of the podium. Here, surrounding an enlarged United Nations emblem will be placed the coat of arms of each UN member state.  Note on the sides the gold-finished fluted wooden strips covering the walls. The organ like effect was included by the architects both for beauty and for better acoustics.
