Headline
Mechanical Voting Equipment in the General Assembly Hall
Caption Description
The General Assembly today used for the first time the new mechanical voting system. Voting in the General Assembly and its Main Committees is governed by the relevant rules of procedures. The use of the mechanical equipment installed in the Plenary Hall on a trial basis is not intended to replace the existing rules or to modify them. This equipment is only an auxiliary device, designed to assist the President of the Assembly and the delegates in the conduct of the vote, and to assist the Secretariat in the prompt and accurate tabulation of the results of the vote.
