Headline Thailand Fights TB
Caption Description A tuberculosis prevalence of 6.6 percent, found among the population of Thailand, is one of the major health problems of the country. The Government of Thailand with the help of the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) started a campaign to fight the disease. In 1951 it initiated the BCG vaccination project and established a central chest clinic in Bangkok. WHO has a team of some five medical officers and has provided about three fellowships and training services for national personnel to assist in the programme.
