Headline Commemorative Plaque by Venezuela on Behalf of the Latin American Group
Caption Description The Latin American countries presented the United Nations this afternoon with a bronze plaque commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Amphictyonic Congress of Panama, and paying tribute to Simon Bolivar, the Liberator. The plaque was presented on behalf of the Latin American Group by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Simon Alberto Consalvi, in a ceremony outside the entrance to the Dag Hammarskjöld Library. The bronze plaque, measuring about 30 inches wide and 50 inches high is installed on the marble wall next to the Library entrance. It is sculptured by the Venezuelan woman artist, Marisol Escober. In the centre is inscribed in Spanish a Bolivar quotation: ""...in the march of the centuries, perhaps there will be one single nation covering the universe: the federal nation.""
