This mural, depicting ""Mankind's Struggle for Lasting Peace"", was created by José Vela-Zanetti of the Dominican Republic under a fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.
The theme of this mural is mankind's struggle for lasting peace. It begins with the destruction of a family and ends with its resurrection. Concentration camps, war and destruction are symbolized in the painting. In the center, a gigantic four-armed figure is seen implanting the emblem of the United Nations as mankind reconstructs a war-torn world.
