The General Assembly received a draft resolution asking the Assembly to call again for the early convening of the Geneva Peace Conference on the Middle East under the auspices of the UN and "with the participation on an equal footing of all parties concerned, including the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)".

Gilad Erdan, Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations, shreds a page of the Charter of the United Nations as he addresses the resumed 10th Emergency Special Session of the General Assembly on “Illegal Israeli actions in occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory”.

The General Assembly later adopted a resolution that "Determines that the State of Palestine is qualified for membership in the United Nations in accordance with Article 4 of the Charter of the United Nations and should therefore be admitted to membership in the United Nations". The Resolution was adopted by a recorded vote with 143 votes in favour, 9 against and 25 abstentions.

The Mixed Armistice Commissions (MAC) consists of an equal number of members designated by each party to the armistice agreements between Israel and the Arab States. Under the chairmanship of the Chief of Staff of the UN Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) or a senior UN Military Observer, they supervise the execution of these agreements. A corps of UN Military Observers (UNMO) is available to assist in investigating any complaints.
