Headline
Burma's Growing Steel Industry
Caption Description
The Union Government of Burma has recently completed construction of a modern State Steel Mill about 14 miles from Rangoon in the Insein District. Using iron scrap available in Burma in thousands of tons as a legacy of World War II, and billets imported from abroad, the Mill produces light steel wares which had to be imported before 1948.
In this photograph, workers are rolling a sheet on the roughing stand in the sheet mills. [No exact date]
